Since August 14th there have been over 25 reported necklace grabs and purse snatches in the south end. Most have occurred in Seattle, although some have taken place in King County and Renton. The suspects are males in their teens to 20’s, working alone or in groups of two to four. In some cases the victim’s have been knocked to the ground and/or dragged several feet to overcome their resistance.
Information developed during the course of this on-going investigation has led to the arrest of two suspects so far.
On August 24th, a 19-year-old male suspect turned himself in to Seattle Police Robbery detectives and was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
On August 30th at 10:45 a.m. a 20-year-old male suspect was arrested at his residence in Burien. He was transported to the Robbery Office at Seattle Police Headquarters where he was interviewed by Seattle Police Robbery detectives and King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives. Following that interview the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
Additional suspects are still being sought as part of this active and on-going investigation.
