Woman taken to the hospital after being assaulted with a hammer. On September 7th at approximately 9:47 p.m. officers and fire department medics responded to a 911 call of an aggravated assault in the 9400 block of Rainier Avenue South.
Officers arrived and located a 35 year old female victim with severe swelling to her face and a cut just outside the corner of her left eye. She was treated at the scene by SFD medics and transported to an area hospital for follow up treatment of her injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that the victim was picked up by the male suspect at Rainier Avenue South and South Chicago Street. She got into the suspect’s car and they began negotiating a price for sex. When the victim wouldn’t take “crack” cocaine as payment the suspect became enraged. He struck her on the side of the face with a hammer at which point she lost consciousness. When she awoke she was being pulled from the vehicle by the suspect. The suspect got her out of the car and fled the scene.
The victim walked to the nearest business and called 911.
Officers conducted an area search for the suspect however, he remains at large. There is no additional suspect or suspect vehicle information available at this time.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
