Detectives have obtained a photo of the truck by the man wanted for a serious hit and run collision in South Seattle this morning, and and are hoping the public can help them find the driver who struck a teenager and then fled the scene.
Witnesses have told police the 18-year-old man was crossing the street at Rainier Avenue S. and S. Elmgrove around 7:15 am, when the driver of a white pickup truck pulled around traffic—which had stopped to let the teen cross the street—and struck the teen.
The suspect slowed down after hitting the teen, and then sped away.
After the collision, the teen was taken to Harborview with a serious head injury.
A surveillance camera near the scene captured the suspect’s white Chevy pickup truck, and witnesses were able to give detectives a description of the driver—believed to be a white or Hispanic man, 35-45 years old, who is either bald or has very short hair.
If you have any information about the driver or the collision, please contact detective Mark Smithers at (206) 684-8931 or at Mark.Smithers@Seattle.gov.
