One woman was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting Tuesday evening in the Genesee neighborhood.
Gang detectives were called to Swedish Hospital on First Hill at about 7:30 pm after a woman showed up in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her wrist.
The woman said she and her male friend were sitting in traffic at Rainier Avenue S. and S. Genesee when another car pulled up behind them, and someone in the second car opened fire.
The victim and her friend ducked down to avoid the gunfire, which shattered the car’s windows.
The suspect then pulled around the victim’s car and kept shooting, striking the woman, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
The victim’s friend then drove her to the hospital.
The woman told officers she didn’t get a look at the gunman, or the gunman’s car. Police weren’t able to immediately interview the woman’s friend, who left the hospital after dropping off the woman.
