Burglary in Highland Park, one suspect caught after K-9 track

Three kids pushing a shopping cart with flat-screen televisions in it just before midnight  is sure to arouse some suspicion, even if it is Halloween.  It certainly did for one Southwest Precinct officer who saw the three pushing the cart in the 1200 Block of SW Holden.  The officer knew that another officer was investigating a home burglary that had just occurred at 11:45 pm in the 7000 Block of 12 Avenue SW.  When the suspects saw the officer, they ran, all in different directions.  A K-9 team was brought in, and addtional officers responded to the scene for containment.  King County Sheriff’s helicopter, Guardian One, also provided their assistance.

The K-9 team tracked to the corner of 13th SW and SW Webster Street where a suspect was located hiding under a bush.  The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody.  Several small items of stolen property from the burglary were located underneath the bush as well.  The three large flat-screen televisions in the shopping cart also came from the same house. The other two suspects were not located, despite an extensive search by officers.  The 16-year-old male suspect was later booked into the Youth Services Center for Investigation of Burglary.
