Police negotiators and firefighters are on scene at Green Lake trying to convince a man, who appears to be experiencing a mental health issue, to come out of the water.
Around 8:30 am, police received a report that the man was in the water at Green Lake, yelling at bystanders and trying to drown himself.
Police and fire officials arrived at the lake, tried to coax the man out of the water, and tossed him a life preserver.
The man clung to the life preserver, but refused to come out of the lake.
SPD Crisis Intervention Team officers and negotiators have been called in to assist.

UPDATE: At about 9:30 am, the man came out of the lake and is now undergoing medical evaluation.
