Car prowl detail results in two arrests downtown

The West Precinct Anti-Crime Team (ACT) conducted a car prowl detail last night which resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

West ACT concentrated their efforts in the 900 Block of Westlake Avenue North, which has been an area with a number of reported car prowls.  While they were watching the area, the officers saw four men loitering around a black BMW looking around.  Two of the men then used flashlights to look into parked vehicles.  The two suspects then broke the windows of two parked cars and removed items from inside the cars.

The observing officers then called in patrol officers to arrest the suspects.  The suspects fled on foot when the saw the police.  After a brief foot pursuit, the two suspects were caught and arrested and different locations.  When the officers checked out the BMW, they could see several purses and other items inside the car, as well as outside on the ground.  The other two suspects had fled when the police came into the area.

Two of the victims of the car prowl returned to their car and positively identified their purses inside the suspect’s BMW.   The two suspects, 19 and 22, were booked into the King County Jail for vehicle prowling, property damage and obstructing.

The suspect’s car was impounded to the processing room pending a search warrant.
