After a brief foot pursuit officers arrested a man for stealing a car. This morning, just shortly after 4:00 a.m., officers were patrolling in the area of 8th Av NE and NE 55th St when they observed a vehicle blocking the roadway and a male bent over, riffling thru items in the back seat thru the open driver door.
When the officers approached the man he ran off on foot. Despite orders to stop, the man continued to run. He fled through several yards before being cornered and eventually surrendering to the officers.
Investigation revealed that the car the man was in had been stolen from a driveway a few blocks away.
The suspect was transported to the North Precinct for processing. Once at the precinct, he claimed to have swallowed “dope” prior to his arrest. Seattle Fire paramedics responded and examined the suspect. They determined that he was in good condition. He was then transported to HMC by ambulance for further observation. A hospital guard was provided. The suspect was later booked into King County Jail for for Investigation of Auto Theft.
