Man Argues with Roommate, Fires Gun into Ceiling

A 33-year-old man probably will not get his damage deposit back after he was arrested  following an argument where he fired his gun into the ceiling of his apartment in the 1700 Block of Bellevue Avenue  last night.

Officers responded to a report of a man threatening his roommate with a gun last night at about 8:30 pm.  Officers responded to the apartment building in the 1700 Block of Bellevue and made their way to the third floor.  As they approached the apartment,  they found the victim roommate making his way down the stairs.  He told officers that the suspect, his roommate was still inside the apartment as well as two other people.

Officers reached the apartment on the third floor and listened at the door.  They heard a single gunshot come from inside the apartment.  A few seconds later, a man walked out of the apartment and officers took him into custody.  The man was intoxicated and told officers there were two people inside the apartment.  Officers escorted the two remaining occupants out of the apartment.

The apartment was cleared by officers and they determined that there were no other victims.  After advising the suspect of his rights, he told officers that he and his roommate had an argument, and that he was pointing  his 9mm handgun into the air when it “went off.”  The round entered the ceiling of the bedroom.  Fortunately, the apartment is on the top floor.  The 33-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Felony Harassment (Domestic Violence).  The guns in the apartment were also taken into evidence.
