Traffic Collision at Broad Street & Alaskan Way

Officers are on scene at Alaskan Way and Broad Street investigating a multi-vehicle traffic collision with injuries.

At approximately 5:26 p.m. officers responded to 911 calls of a traffic collision involving a taxi cab, a bicyclist, and a motorcycle.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the bicyclist was riding northbound on Alaskan Way with the motorcyclist approaching from behind the bicyclist at a high rate of speed.  The taxi cab was stopped on the east side of Alaskan Way.  The bicyclist maneuvered around the taxi cab.  For reasons yet to be determined, the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle, struck the taxi cab and then struck the bicyclist.  He continued on into on-coming southbound traffic, side-swiping a southbound vehicle and crashing.

Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the bicyclist (a woman in her 30’s) to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.  The motorcyclist (a male in his 20’s) was transported to HMC by ambulance for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

The above event synopsis is preliminary information and subject to change.

This remains an active and on-going patrol investigation.
