Here is a little more information from the shooting incident that occurred earlier this morning.
Officers were in the area and actually heard the shots fired near the 100 Block of Pike Street. Several officers began responding to the area. As additional officers were coming into the area, the first officer located the 23-year-old female victim in the 1500 Block of 1st Avenue. She had a gunshot wound to her forearm. The officer applied first aid while he called for Seattle Fire Department medics. Witnesses to the event told officers that two males were crossing 2nd Avenue from Pike when they began arguing. One of the men pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the other. It is also believed that the second male pulled out his own gun and fired back. The victim was with her friends at the northeast corner of 1st and Pike getting ready to cross the street when she was struck in the forearm. Witnesses provided good descriptions of the suspects to officers and a suspect was stopped in the parking lot to the north of the incident. That person had a gun and was taken into custody. A detective located a gun in the alley between 2nd and 3rd Avenue, and a second suspect was eventually located in a parking garage near 2nd and Pike.
The two suspects, ages 18 and 21, were intereviewed by detectives and later booked into the King County Jail for assault, gun charges, and drug charges. The victim was treated at the hospital and is going to be ok.
