Driver arrested for Vehicular Assault in downtown

TCI responded to injury collision in downtown. This morning just shortly before 3:00 a.m., a SUV was travelling eastbound on Cherry St approaching 4 Av. At the same time, a Ford F-350 truck was travelling northbound on 4 Av approaching Cherry St. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in both vehicles coming to rest in different corners of the intersection.

Seattle Fire Department (SFD) responded and treated two adult male occupants of the truck; both were transported to HMC with minor injuries. SFD also treated the adult male driver and two adult male passengers of the Infiniti. All three were transported to HMC with minor (driver/one passenger) and serious (one male passenger), but non-life-threatening injuries.

As is routine, a (Drug Recognition Expert) DRE unit responded and evaluated both drivers; the driver of the truck was found to not be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; the driver of the Infiniti was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Traffic Collision Investigators responded and processed the scene.

The Infiniti driver was subsequently arrested for Investigation of Vehicular Assault and a legal blood draw was performed.  After completion of medical treatment for minor injuries, the suspect / driver was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Vehicular Assault.

The investigation continues.
