UPDATE: New information about this incident has revealed that after the female officer was head-butted, she was not knocked backward into some bushes — it was actually another officer on scene and the suspect that fell into the bushes.

A female officer sustained injuries to her face after being assaulted by a 20-year-old male suspect.
On June 30th at approximately 11:39 p.m. officers responded to reports of two people fighting outside Seattle Fire Department Station 28 in the 5900 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival officers contacted two adult males that had been fighting. While being interviewed one of the men took off running. Officers chased him and caught him a short distance later. While escorting the suspect back to the patrol car the suspect head-butted a female officer in the face, knocking her backward into some bushes. Other officers on scene quickly gained control of the suspect and placed him into handcuffs. The suspect was then transported to the South Precinct.
The victim female officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries to her face. She was subsequently transported by police car to an area hospital for treatment.
The suspect was interviewed and will be booked into the King County Jail for Felony Assault on a Police Officer.
