Shots Fired During Street Party, Suspect Arrested

Officers were monitoring a party in the SODO neighborhood early this morning when shots were heard.  A suspect vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested after shell casings were located in the street.  No one was injured.

A party was taking place on in the street on South Forest Street between 1st Avenue South and Utah Avenue South.  At around 1:50 am, officers were in the area monitoring the event.  Officers heard shots on Utah just south of the party.  One officer saw a small white Honda fleeing the scene and was able to broadcast a description and direction of travel.  Officers located five shell casings in the street.

A patrol sergeant saw the suspect vehicle  near Michigan Avenue South and East Marginal Way.  The vehicle was stopped and officers contacted the driver. There were spent shell casings on the driver’s seat, which matched those on Utah.  The driver was arrested, processed for DUI, and the car was impounded pending a search warrant.

Officers did not locate any injured people or property damage.  Gang Unit detectives responded to the scene and will conduct the follow up investigation.
