Man Arrested for September 2012 West Seattle Robbery

A 20-year-old man is in custody for a robbery that occured last fall after an officer in Shoreline contacted him last night and discovered the warrant in the system.

On September 16th, 2012, two victims were at California Avenue SW and SW Alaska when they were confronted by an acquaintance, the suspect.  The suspect  demanded money owed to a friend.  He then produced a baseball bat and beat one of the victims unconscious.  The suspect reportedly took the victim’s wallet, money and cell phone.  When the other victim tried to intervene, the suspect lifted his shirt and grabbed the butt of a semi-automatic handgun and threatened to shoot the victim if he came any closer.  The suspect also took that victim’s cell phone before running off.

Responding officers did not locate the suspect at the time despite an area check.  The uncounscious male was transported to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries.  Robbery detectives conducted the follow up investigation and identified the suspect and issued a bulletin to law enforcement agencies.

Last night, at about 11:45 pm, a Shoreline Police officer contacted the suspect in a park in their jurisdiction.  A routine check of his name revealed the robbery suspect information.  The Shoreline officer contacted Seattle officers who in turn transported the suspect to the Robbery Unit office where he was interviewed by detectives.

Following the interview, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.  Detectives will continue to follow up on this case.
