Officers on-viewed a violent fight disturbance. On 7/15/13, just shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers were driving SB on 7th Avenue when they observed a man viciously beating another man in the 1500 block.
The officers stopped and contacted the two subjects. The suspect had the upper hand on the victim, and he was striking the victim in the face with a belt buckle (He had the belt wrapped around his hand). The officers tried to break up the fight but the suspect continued to fight the victim.
The officers had to use OC spray to overcome the suspect’s combativeness. The officers put out a “Help the Officer” because a female ran towards the officers yelling and screaming attempting to incite the crowd of people. Other officers arrived, and the suspect was taken into custody. During the struggle one of the officers sustained a broken finger. The officer went to the hospital for a medical evaluation. The victim sustained severe facial injuries as a result of the assault by the suspect. He was transported to HMC for treatment of lacerations to the face and head area.
The suspects are unknown to the victim. The details of what precipitated this attack is not yet known.
The suspect (a 27 -year-old white male from San Diego, Ca) was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. The second suspect (a 19-year-old white female from Lake Stevens, WA) was booked into King County Jail for Obstruction.
