Car/Pedestrian Collision Downtown, Driver Arrested

A  pedestrian was sent to the hospital last night following a collision with a car at 3rd and Union.  The driver was arrested at the scene.

Last night, at about 10:00 pm, a 32-year-old woman was crossing 3rd Avenue at Union Street in the crosswalk.  A man driving a Dodge Charger later told officers that he was distracted when his car struck the woman.  Seattle Fire responded and treated and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center with possible fractures to her arm and leg.

The driver, 31, was evaluated at the scene by a Drug Recognition Expert officer, as is standard.  The driver did not exhibit any signs of intoxication.  However, he is not legally permitted to drive as his driver’s license is revoked and he is under Department of Corrections supervision.  The driver was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for violations of his DOC conditions. Detectives will follow up on this case.
