For the second time in less than twenty four hours, detectives were investigating the cause of another motorcycle/motor scooter fatality collision on the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
At around 2:50 this afternoon, a man was riding a 500 cc Aprilia motor scooter northbound on the viaduct. As he approached South Jackson, the 52-year old man struck the guard rail and was ejected.
The Seattle Fire Department responded and determined that the driver died at the scene. Seattle Police shut down the northbound lanes of the viaduct while detectives responded to process the scene and begin their investigation. The Medical Examiner also responded.
The Traffic Collision investigators will be responsible for the continuing investigation. The northbound lanes of the viaduct have been reopened to traffic.
