Officers arrested a man covered in hot sauce. On 10/16/13, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of an assault at the Chipotle Restaurant located at 3 Av/Pike St. A responding officer was flagged down and informed that a man was running from the scene northbound on 2nd Av. Officers arrived in the 1500 block of 2nd Av and were flagged down by two witnesses, who pointed to a man wearing a yellow jacket about 10 feet in front of them.
Officers made contact with the man in the yellow jacket and saw that he was covered in hot sauce and was bleeding from his hand. Officers detained the man and requested Seattle Fire Dept. (SFD) respond to treat his injured hand. Witnesses at the scene said that as the suspect (man covered in hot sauce) was walking out of the Chipotle an employee (victim) wished him a good evening.
The suspect (for unknown reason) turned around and struck the victim/employee in the face with a glass bottle of hot sauce, causing multiple lacerations to his face. The suspect left the restaurant and a witness followed him while on the phone with 911. The suspect was positively identified by the witness.
The 35-yr-old suspect was arrested and transported to the W.Pct. and later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. The 25-yr-old victim treated at the scene by SFD and transported to the hospital by AMR for stitches to his multiple lacerations
