After smashing the windows of a Wallingford home and losing a fight with a tree, a bloodied 33-year-old man invoked his right to remain patriotic before officers hauled him away.
Police were called to the 4200 block of Woodlawn Ave. N. just after 9:30 pm on Saturday after the man ran up to a home, broke three windows, damaged a patio table and smashed a fence before he ran off down the street.
Officers found the man a block away from the home, grappling with a tree.
As officers pulled up, they saw the man ripping the tree limb from limb. But the tree soon got the better of the man, who suddenly fell forward into the tree, landing face-first on the ground.
When police handcuffed the man—who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol—he informed officers he loves America.
After arresting the man for property destruction, police discovered the man had a bloody gash on his forearm—possibly caused by broken glass or his brawl with the tree—and called for an ambulance to take him to Harborview for treatment.
