A convicted felon armed with a gun and carrying crack cocaine was arrested early this morning as part of a narcotics operation in the East Precinct.
Officers with the East Precinct’s Anti-Crime Team had made arrangements to purchase crack cocaine from a suspect. At about 1:15 am, the suspect arrived near 25th Avenue and East Fir Street and the officers moved in to make the arrest. The suspect ran and the officers pursued on foot. The officers caught up with the suspect and wrestled him to the ground. As they were doing that, the 33-year-old suspect pulled a loaded 9mm handgun from his waistband while officers were on top of him. One of the officers was able to strip the gun from the suspect’s hand, and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect had almost 8 grams of crack cocaine in his possession.
Officers learned that the suspect was a convicted felon and was later booked into the King County Jail for the gun and drug offenses, both felony charges.
