A man was struck on the face after stepping into a Light Rail train in South Seattle early this evening.
At approximately 5:06 p.m. officers responded to a train/pedestrian collision at MLK Jr. Way South and South Holly Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that a man in his 30’s who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs was walking eastbound on South Holly Street. A Sound Transit light rail train was northbound on MLK Jr. Way South. At or near the intersection with South Holly Street the pedestrian walked into the train which struck him on his face and knocked him backward.
Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his non-life-threatening facial injuries.
Nobody else was injured in the incident.
This remains an active and on-going collision investigation.
