Can You Help Police Catch Smokey the Pot Shop Bandit?

Police around Puget Sound need your help ensuring a robber pays the piper for a series of stick ups at four pot paraphernalia shops.

The man’s pot shop crime spree began November 21st at the Mary Jane’s House of Glass in Federal Way.

The suspect came into the store and browsed for a bit, picked out a pipe and asked a clerk to ring him up.

As the suspect was checking out, he drew a pistol on the clerk and said “nothing personal, but I’m going to need everything out of the register” before he fled with cash and his pipe.

The next day, the suspect walked into another House of Glass shop in Tacoma, browsed some more and again drew a gun on a clerk. Once more, the suspect told the employee the hold-up was “nothing personal.”

The suspect went quiet for five days until, on November 26th, he robbed two Puffin Glass Studios shops in Renton and Seattle. Again, the suspect pulled a gun on clerks, demanded cash and pot paraphernalia, and tried to assure employees the robberies weren’t “personal.”

The suspect—pictured in the video—is a white male in his 20s, 6’3, with a slight build and short hair. He may have fled the scene of at least one of the robberies in a gray sedan.

Seattle police are now working with detectives from Federal Way, Renton and Tacoma to identify and track the suspect.

If you have any info about these cases or recognize the suspect, please call the SPD Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535.
