Officers are investigating a suspicious circumstances incident that left a man with a head injury. At approximately 7:35 p.m. officers and medics responded to the area of 20th Avenue South and South Jackson Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim in his 40’s who had sustained an injury to the rear portion of his head behind his left ear. The victim displayed signs of intoxication and was belligerent with the first responders tending to him. The victim told officers that as he was walking past a group of teenagers he heard a pop and then felt a wound on the side of his head (he believed he had just been shot). The victim was unable to provide the exact location of where the assault occurred.
Investigating officers interviewed other people that were in the area. Nobody else heard a gunshot and no shell casings were located by the officers.
Fire department medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment of his non-life-threatening injury. (SPD has received no updates from Harborview as to what exactly caused the victim’s injury).
The suspects were described as four to five males and a female in their teens wearing puffy jackets. They remain at large.
