Man Assaulted and Robbed Downtown

A man walking home from the grocery store was assaulted and robbed by three men last night.

On January 17th at approximately 8:34 p.m. officers responded to the 200 block of Pike Street for the report of a strong-arm robbery of a citizen. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had just exited Walgreens and was walking home with his bags of groceries.  In the 200 block of Pike Street the victim was approached by three black male suspects. Two of the suspects grabbed the victim’s grocery bags and ran off while the third suspect assaulted the victim. The victim was knocked to the ground and kicked in the head. All three suspects fled on foot before officers arrived on scene. An area check for the suspects was negative.

A short while later, the victim called 911 reporting that the same suspects were assaulting him again near 3rd Avenue and Pike Street. Officers responded to the area but could not locate the victim. Some time after the second call King County Metro Police observed a fight between two men. Seattle Police officers responded and determined it was the same victim from the original incident and one of the black male suspects that he had described who had robbed him earlier.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for robbery. The other two suspects remain at large. The victim sustained facial injuries in the attacks.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
