Gang detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a man who entered a South Seattle community center with gunshot wounds.
At approximately 6:51 p.m. officers responded to the Van Asselt Community Center in the 2800 block of South Myrtle Street for the report of a man shot. Preliminary investigation indicates that an 18-year-old male sustained grazing gunshot wounds to the chest and arm somewhere outside the community center and then entered the building to report it.
Fire department medics treated the man at the scene and transported him to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gang Unit detectives responded to the hospital to interview the man. Detectives have not been able to gather additional details nor suspect information as the man is refusing to cooperate with the police investigators.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
