Cops Chase Down BB Gun-Carrying Purse Snatcher In South Seattle

Patrol officers arrested a 23-year-old purse snatcher after he and two other men stole a woman’s purse and took off running through South Seattle this morning.

Just after 10:30 AM, police got a call that the three suspects had grabbed a woman’s purse at a bus stop at Rainier Ave S and S Henderson Street and took off running. While fleeing the scene, the suspects ran through straight through a home, before they split up in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 8300 block of Rainier Avenue.

Officers were able to catch up to one of the suspects—the 23-year-old man—in the 8300 block of Wabash and arrested him.

Police found a realistic-looking BB gun in the 23-year-old man’s pocket and recovered the victim’s purse in the yard of a nearby home.

Officers turned the suspect over to robbery detectives, who are now investigating the case and working to identify the other two purse snatchers.
