Seattle Police Department arson investigators believe heavy rainfall thwarted an overnight attempt to burn down a Central District development.
Just after 7 AM Monday, police were called to the development near 21st Ave E and E Fir Street, after a work crew found someone had thrown two Molotov cocktail incendiaries through the window of a home currently under construction.
Only one of the two Molotovs broke and ignited, leaving scorch marks on the floor of the structure. Heavy rainfall over the weekend had apparently soaked the construction site, preventing the fire from spreading.
Investigators believe the arson attempt happened sometime between 5 pm Sunday and 7 AM Monday.
