Officers responded to disturbance during bar closing.
On 6/27/14, shortly before 1:00 a.m., officers were working a bar emphasis detail and were in the 2200 block of 1st Av monitoring the crowd when they were called to a disturbance in front of ‘Ohana Grill at 2207 1st Av.
Upon arrival, officers saw the suspect lying on the sidewalk in front of the bar. The suspect appeared to be very intoxicated and became belligerent towards officers. Officers initially thought the situation was a man down incident. After further investigation, they determined that the suspect walked out of ‘Ohana Grill without paying his bar tab and confronted staff there.
Officers tried to explain to the suspect that the bar manager just wanted the tab paid but the suspect continued his belligerent behavior and refused to pay the bill. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for theft. As officers were securing the suspect into a patrol car for transport, the suspect spat in the officer’s face.
A spit-sock was placed over the head of the suspect to prevent further assaults on officers and the 27-year-0ld man was direct-booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
