Man arrested in South Seattle for DUI after crashing into parked vehicle. On 6/28/14, shortly after 5:00 p.m., an officer saw a man- the sole occupant and registered owner of a blue Mazda MP5 driving in a highly dangerous and aggressive manner by driving onto the sidewalk and through some hedges in the 7300 BK Martin Luther King Jr Way S.
The suspect turned onto S Othello ST and drove directly in front of the officer’s vehicle travelling eastbound. The officer activated lights and sirens as the vehicle sped away at speeds estimated at approximately 80 mph in a 30 mph zone.
The officer attempted to keep the vehicle in site but temporarily lost sight of the car due to the dangerous speeds. The vehicle turned westbound on S Holly St. When the officer turned onto S Holly ST he observed the suspect had collided with a parked unoccupied vehicle.
The driver was detained and treated by Seattle Fire at the scene. He did not appear to have any obvious injuries but due to his erratic behavior he was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) by AMR.
A Drug Recognition Expert Officer responded to HMC and processed the 26-year-old man for suspected DUI.
