Original Story:

Officers are searching for two vehicles after a girl was struck while crossing the road in South Seattle Tuesday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Genessee St. just after 6:30 p.m. for a report of a child struck by a car.  Officers rushed to the scene and found the 7-year-old girl still on the ground with critical injuries.  Officers called for medics who stabilized the girl and sped her to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses said that a red or maroon Chevy Tahoe SUV stuck the child as she crossed the road. Witnesses described the child falling to the ground where she was then struck by a gold Acura Legend. Witnesses said that both vehicles sped away while they tended to the girl.

Traffic Collision investigators were called to the scene and are currently collecting evidence and witness statements.  If you have any information to help identify the drivers please call 911 and speak to officers immediately.
