Officers arrested a 30-year-old man after shots were fired in West Seattle on Thursday afternoon.
Police received a call at 2:45 PM of several shots fired near the 2100 block of Belvidere Ave Southwest. Police resources including SWAT units and the King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter also responded to assist.
Officers heard a man yelling and firing a gun in a nearby greenbelt while they searched for him. Officers eventually took him into custody without incident, however multiple vehicles were damaged by the gunfire.
The arrested man has been taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Two guns were recovered, and will remain in police custody.
Several nearby schools were temporarily locked down as a precaution.
