One Traffic Stop Nets Three Arrests And a Gun

Police arrested three men and seized handgun after a routine traffic stop early Friday in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood.

Officers noticed a car driving without its headlights on about 1:30 AM near Broadway and Boren Avenue. They stopped the car and discovered the 24-year-old driver had a suspended license. The driver bolted when officers ordered him out of the car, but the suspect tripped and fell while running away and was taken into custody.

Officers also found that two of the three passengers had arrest warrants. A 25-year-old man had a felony and misdemeanor warrants and his 24-year-old co-passenger had a misdemeanor warrant. Officers arrested both men and booked them into King County Jail. The third passenger was not arrested. The driver went to jail for operating the car with a suspended license.

A search of the vehicle turned up the handgun, which police seized as evidence.
