Detectives are investigating after a Metro coach struck a woman around 7:25 AM this morning near SW. Alaska St. and California Ave SW. in West Seattle.
Witnesses claimed the bus pulled up to the stop and allowed people to board. A woman that was asleep on the sidewalk got up and stumbled in front of the vehicle as it pulled away. The bus struck the woman, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Medics arrived and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.
Traffic Collision Investigators have spoken with the driver and do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in their driving. Police planned to reopen the roadway around 10 after completing the investigation.
