Beat Cops Bust Busy Burglar

Officers responded to a burglary in progress of an occupied home in the 200 block of 11th Avenue E around 9:30 p.m. this past Friday night. The homeowner told officers that the male suspect had kicked in a door to gain entry. Police arrived quickly but the suspect was already gone.

As they were investigating this crime, officers realized that the person they were looking for matched the same suspect description from a burglary just three days earlier.

Officers searched the vicinity and found a match near 10 Avenue E and E Republican. A witness confirmed that the 28-year-old man police had stopped was in fact the right guy.

Meanwhile, another burglary was being reported in the 1400 block of E Olive. In this case, five rifles and three handguns were stolen. Like the 11th Avenue burglary, the suspect kicked in a door to gain access. Another witness confirmed that that the man in the E Olive burglary was a good match for the 11th Avenue burglary.

Officer searched the suspect and found some ammunition. Believing that he had stashed the weapons somewhere nearby, officers called in two K9s. They both searched exhaustively, but to no avail.

CSI detectives responded, and searched for and collected forensic evidence.

Police think that the suspect they arrested is responsible for all three referenced burglaries and perhaps other crimes as well. Officers booked him into King County Jail pending further investigation.
