Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old male deceased and a 21-year-old male seriously injured in Belltown neighborhood.
Shortly after 11:44 p.m., dispatchers received reports of a shooting near Elliott Avenue and Bell Street.
Police arrived and found the 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department arrived. Despite life-saving effort, medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Police also found a 21-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
The investigation revealed that an altercation occurred shortly before the shooting.
The suspect is currently not in custody.
Interim Chief Sayles, Assistant Chief Powell, Homicide/Assault Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
