A King County Sheriff’s helicopter helped Seattle police track down a car thief in the South Park neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
Officers spotted a known auto thief driving a stolen car in the South Park area and gave chase. However, the suspect refused to pull over so police stopped pursuing him out of safety concerns.
The thief ditched the stolen car near 10th Avenue South and South Donovan Street. Officers were able to find the empty car and the helicopter helped lead police to where the suspect was hiding.
The 31-year-old man will be booked into King County Jail on investigation of auto theft and an assault warrant.
