West Precinct detectives have requested charges against a pair of prolific car prowlers, caught raiding the vehicles of Seahawks fans during a January playoff game.
On January 18th, a witness spotted a green Mercury Marquis parked near a lot at Dearborn Street and Maynard Avenue S. Detectives believe a 20-year-old man climbed out of the Mercury—driven by his 20-year-old girlfriend—and shattered the windows of four different vehicles with his elbow.
The man snatched backpacks, Seahawks gear, clothing, gift cards, computers, and sunglasses, before speeding away in the Mercury.
With information from the witness, detectives spent the next few weeks working to ID the 20-year-old couple as the suspects, and got a warrant to seize their car from a Central District home.
When police searched the car, they found wallets, IDs and bank cards inside.
Detectives are now working with King County Prosecutors to bring charges against the man and woman.
