Officers arrested a man and are searching for another after they robbed two women minutes apart Friday in the University District.
The first victim was walking in the 1200 block of NE 45th St. when two men ran up behind her and ripped an iPod from her hands. The two men continued to run away south along 12th Ave. NE woman to call 911.
A second woman called 911 minutes later to report that she had just been robbed of her iPhone by the same two men. The victim in this case was injured as they pried the phone from her grasp.
Witnesses heard the commotion caused by the second victim and came running to her aid by loaning her a phone to call 911.
Officers were in the area searching for the two men when they were spotted in the 4700 block of Brooklyn Ave. NE. Officers attempted to contact the two suspects when one ran away and was not found. Officers were taking the second suspect into custody when he suddenly broke free and ran off. Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect a second time and found the stolen iPhone in his pocket.
The injured victim was taken to the University of Washington Medical Center for treatment where officers returned her phone. Officers booked the thief into King County Jail for investigation of robbery and are still looking for a suspect described a white male in his early 20s wearing black and grey clothing and a baseball cap.
