One Arrested After Man Stabbed, Woman Pepper Sprayed In Belltown Argument

Officers arrested a 44-year-old man Tuesday in Belltown after he stabbed a man and pepper sprayed a woman during an argument.

Police received reports of a fight the 2100 block of 1st Ave. at 5:30 PM.  When the first officer arrived, he found a 48-year-old man with stab wounds in his chest and side.  The victim provided officers a description of the suspect, who fled following the assault.

Officers spotted the suspect near 1st and Virginia, took him into custody, and recovered a knife nearby.

At the scene of the attack, a woman approached officers, said she was the girlfriend of the stabbing victim, and told police the suspect had also pepper sprayed her, causing her to back her car into a fire truck parked in the area. The woman’s car and the fire truck sustained minor damage in the incident.

The 48-year-old male victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  Officers have booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
