Capitol Hill Bike Crash Sends One To Hospital With Stab Wounds

Early Sunday, officers arrested a man for assault after he crashed his bike into and stabbed a pedestrian.

Witnesses called 911 just before 2 AM reporting a fight in the intersection of Broadway and E. Pine St.  Officers on foot patrol in the area quickly found two men, one armed with a folding knife and one with abdominal stab wounds. Officers took the 40-year-old suspect into custody and immediately began aiding the injured man. Seattle Fire Department medics treated the man’s wounds before taking him to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers spoke to witnesses who said the victim was walking across the intersection against the signal when the suspect, who was riding a bike, collided with the victim.  The suspect and the victim began fighting.  The suspect then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

Officers took the suspect to HMC for minor injuries sustained in the crash and ensuing fight.  He was later booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
