Officers arrested two people after a 15-year-old girl was robbed while waiting to catch a bus in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.
The victim was listening to music on her phone while waiting for her bus in the 4700 block of S. Graham St. around 7:30 PM Thursday when two men began pacing back and forth around her. One of the men snatched the phone from her hands and began running away. A good samaritan who witnessed the crime chased the two men down the street, over fences and through yards.
He continued pursuing them as police flooded the area. Officers quickly caught up to the do-gooder and one of the suspects. Eight minutes after catching the first suspect, officers, with help from a K-9 team and King County’s Guardian One helicopter, took the second suspect into custody and recovered the girl’s phone.
The man who chased the suspect was treated by Seattle Fire medics at the scene for a cut sustained while climbing a fence.
Officers booked a 17-year-old male into the King County Youth Service Center for a warrant and investigation of robbery and an 18-year-old male into King County Jail for investigation of robbery. Officers returned the phone to the girl.
