Officers arrested a man after he robbed a convenience store at knife point in West Seattle Tuesday afternoon.
A convenience store clerk in the 3400 block of California SW noticed a man walk into his store at 2 p.m. Tuesday as he was preparing to go home. The clerk knew the man as a chronic shoplifter who had stolen from stores in the area recently. The man made his way to the cooler, removed some items, and walked out of the store. The clerk followed the suspect out and told him to return the stolen items. The suspect pulled out a knife, swung it at the clerk, and ran away, leaving the suspect to call 911.
Officer Fabbricante spoke with the clerk and was able to quickly email a surveillance photo from the store to officers looking for the suspect. Officer Mulloy searched for the suspect for almost two hours before finally spotting him just four blocks away from the initial robbery. Officer Mulloy took the suspect into custody and turned him over to Robbery detectives. Detectives interviewed the suspect and booked him into King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
