A 24-year-old woman was wounded late Monday night after shots were fired near Rainier Playfield.
Officers received multiple reports of a shooting at 12:45 AM 11:45 PM followed by a call from a friend of a female victim. The victim’s friend drove them to the 3700 block of Rainier Ave S where they flagged down an ambulance. Police contacted the victim as she was getting care from the EMTs.
The victim told police that she had been hanging out at Rainier Playfield with a couple friends when she heard shots and felt something hit her back. She sustained one bullet wound just below her shoulder blade. Medics transported her to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim was unable to provide Police with any description of the suspect.
Police found shell casings near 37 Avenue S and S Oregon Street and collected them for detectives.
