Seattle police reunited an 83-year-old man with his family Friday after he went missing from his home in Issaquah, leading authorities to issue a “Silver Alert.”
Officers Douglas Beard and Michael Shin were on patrol in the 9200 block of Aurora Ave. N. around 4:30 AM when their patrol car’s Automated License Plate Reader picked up the missing man’s Chrysler driving past them.
Police caught up to the car and found the 83-year-old man behind the wheel. He explained that he had been staying at a nearby hotel and offered to come back to the North Precinct and wait for his family to pick him up. Officer Beard sat with the man at the precinct while his family drove into town, ensuring he could safely return home.
