Seattle Firefighters responded to a report of a head-on crash involving a school charter bus, an amphibious tour vehicle and several passenger vehicles on the south end of the Aurora Bridge at 11:11 this morning. Four people were killed and over 44 patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center and other area hospitals with a combination of critical and serious injuries. Overall firefighters and medics evaluated approximately 50 people for injuries at the accident scene.
Mutual aid was requested from the Shoreline Fire Department to assist with the large number of patients. About 90 Seattle Firefighters and Medics responded to the incident.
The City’s Emergency Operations Center has been activated to coordinate response efforts between the Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Department and the Seattle Department of Transportation.
The north and southbound lanes of the Aurora Bridge are currently shut down for the accident investigation.
