Detectives are investigating after officers shot a man following a foot pursuit through the Northgate neighborhood this morning.
Witnesses called 911 at 4:45 am Tuesday to report a car prowl in progress, later stating the male suspect had run from the scene. Officers responding to the call spotted the suspect in the area and went to contact him. The suspect ran from officers and at one point brandished a knife. An officer deployed a taser, but this failed to subdue the suspect. One of the officers then fired multiple rounds striking the suspect. Officers immediately called for Seattle Fire Department medics who took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Force Investigations Detectives are leading the investigation and the Office of Professional Accountability is on scene which is standard procedure in this situation.
