A Magnolia couple barricaded themselves inside their bedroom early Saturday and called police after awaking to the sounds of someone creeping through their apartment.
Officers responded to the apartment in the 3000 block of 21st Avenue West around 1 AM and immediately spotted a man with a flashlight wandering around inside the couple’s living room.
As officers called out to the man, he rushed further into the apartment.
Out of concern for the victims’ safety, Officers Mark James and Vasilios Sideris kicked in the front door of the apartment and took the suspect into custody.
Officers searched the 38-year-old man and found the victims’ car and house keys, cash, and a knife, all stolen from inside the apartment. It appears the suspect broke a window to gain access the the couples’ home.
Police transported the man to the King County Jail and then Harborview Medical Center for treatment of an unrelated issue.
