Half-Naked Man Arrested For Making It Rain, Burglary

After he was confronted by police Sunday during a break-in in Eastlake, a burglar climbed to the roof of a home, stripped off half his clothes and began throwing money down to the street before he was arrested.

A woman called 911 around 11 AM Sunday and said she had locked herself inside a closet after hearing someone inside her home in the 2800 block of Boylston Avenue East.

Police arrived a spotted a 33-year-old man carrying several bags out of the home. When he locked eyes with Officer Adam Fowler, who was standing on the street outside the home, he slammed the door and went back inside.

The suspect made his way to the upper floor of the home, where he climbed out a skylight onto the roof. Once on top of the home, the man began–in the parlance of our times–making it rain, tossing a flurry of stolen blank checks and loose change onto the ground below.

Police entered the home, evacuated the victim from her closet hiding place, and took up positions around the home’s skylight.

The suspect then stripped off his jacked and shirt and smoked a cigarette before he climbed down into the home through the skylight, where officers took him into custody.

After arresting the man, officers assisted the victim in collecting loose change, blank checks and other items up off the ground.

Police also recovered about $10,000 worth of items taken by the suspect, including expensive pens, a laptop, and jewelry.

Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail for possession of stolen property, property damage, and identity theft.
