Seattle Police and Fire Department officials are cautioning neighbors in the Wallingford area to secure their dumpsters and garbage bins as detectives investigate a series of reckless burning incidents in the area.
Since February 5th, police have been called to four incidents of fires set in dumpsters or recycling bins between 3rd Avenue NE and 5th Avenue NE near NE 45th Street.
None of the fires have resulted in significant damage, and investigators have not yet found any indications the fires were set with the intent of destroying property or causing injury.
Seattle Fire Department officials are distributing informational fliers in the neighborhood and SPD’s North Precinct is adding additional patrols as Arson Unit detectives investigate.
